Business Week’s Small Biz Magazine
Posted on December 19th, 2009 by Ryan Nicholson.
Here is the tearsheet from a shoot I did for Business Week’s Small Biz Magazine back in November. My subject was Jeanette Prenger the CEO of Ecco Select here in Kansas City. We shot at her office in downtown. The magazine wanted something fresh and spontaneous (I believe the specific direction was quirky but not silly) so after knocking out a few staged portrait settings in her office I took Jeanette to the streets of KC which produced my favorite shots of the day.
Here are a few outtakes:
Thanks to freelance photo editor Jane Clark for the assignment, Michele Taylor for the hair/makeup work, Jeffrey for his assisting, and of course Jeanette Prenger for being a willing and gracious subject.
One of my favorite side note stories to the day was while scouting for places to shoot Jeffrey led me to a part of the building that was still under construction and I let the door close behind us and realized with horror that I had just locked us out. One of the moments where everything goes in slow motion. I think I might have peed my pants just a little bit…thankfully Jeffrey had his cell phone handy and Michele the makeup artist saved the day!
